Kyanne's Haitian Passport has been issued!

Hi Sylvie,

Great news, we have received Berline's passport!!

But once again, I need your patience and understanding….we have to get a Canadian medical done for Berline before we can apply for her Visa, so we have an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday afternoon. This is normally something that would get done earlier in the process, but both Dixie and I did not think of it until now, and we apologize for that! Unfortunately with Berline being the first Canadian adoption to reach this stage since before the earthquake, we are a little bit rusty on some things!!

After the doctor sees her on Tuesday, it should be approximately two weeks or so until we can apply for the Visa, and then the Visa should go fairly quickly. I would say that we are looking at approximately mid-November if everything goes smoothly.

Again, I thank you in advance for your understanding, and you are officially on the home stretch now!! If you have any questions, as always, feel free to let me know.

I know there is still a little ‘but’ in the email…, however they said last time it could take up to a month to get her new birth certificate legalized and within 1 week, it was legalized and the passport has been issued. I have great faith in GLA and I know that the medical will not take long and we will be there soon! I guess I have to start packing!!! This is for real. I really have to get all my ducks in a row!!!

At the same time that I feel such joy, I continue to feel angry. I don’t understand why the President Martelly has not signed dispensations for some families that have been waiting for several months. It doesn’t matter if the families have children at home or not. These orphans need to come home to their forever families as well. No child should wait in an orphanage while they have loving parents waiting for them. Thinking and praying for you everyday Kori!

Kyann's Birth Certificate Extrait

Melissa emailed me with an update. It’s not the update I wanted to see but ...

Basically, our time frame is not getting any shorter. GLA received Kyanne’s birth certificate extrait, however now they have to get it legalized. The part I did not like was that she said it could take several weeks to a month. It’s not the end of the world. It’s just a little delay in our process. I have complete faith and I know that it will not take long before she emails me back to say that all the paperwork is finally with immigration and her passport is being issued. I just know it!

This is the email she sent:

Good Morning Sylvie,

I have some good news, and some not so good news.....we have received the extrait of Berline's birth certificate, but we now have to get it legalized, which could take several weeks to a month.

At this point, all we can do is wait! I will be sure to let you know once this is all done.
Have a great day!

I emailed her back to see if the birth certificate extrait was a step that was missed or not done properly and she answered with this:

Hi Sylvie,

This is a paper that is required for older birth certificates, so we have not normally had one made for babies. Now that we know they are requiring this in Immigration, we are making sure we get it done for all children ahead of time. So, unfortunately, the files at the end stages now are having that extra delay.

I hope that makes sense! Thanks for your understanding, I appreciate it a lot! It won't be long until you have your little pumpkin at home with you!

So there you have it! Life is so unpredictable! We just have to be ready to deal with the curve balls one at a time. I guess I will continue to enjoy my walks on the beach after work with the dogs, practice hot yoga and surf the net until my little princess is home and takes all my ‘Me Time’!!!

You never know, this might all be happening so that Kyanne and Théo can come home together. There’s a reason why we have to wait. We just don’t know why at the moment!

Curve Ball

Yup... A curve ball came right at me today... For some reason, I was ready for it! I will tell u all about it later. I am at the beach right now so no time to blog too much. I will save it for tonight.

All I have to say is with lots of practice... You get stronger and better to take the news of the unexpected.

Home away from home!

After a long day’s work, the boys got our camp settled in its spot at my dad’s wood lot in Memramcook. This is a dream come true for me. I am so thankful to have a wonderful husband that made this happen for me. I wanted nothing more than to have a camp in the woods. When I’m in the woods, I feel comfort and peace. I think I will bring Kyanne there the first day she gets home. Kyanne will be able to connect with nature and play with her little cousins like I did when I was young. My mom, who had not even came to our wood lot for probably 20 years, was there with us. My dad must have been glowing up there seeing her with me.

I guess the boys deserved a beer after a long day’s work!

Evening at the SPA

Friday after work, I treated my 2 step-daughters and their sister to a relaxing Girls evening! We all met at Namaste SPA. We got there when they were closing so we had the SPA to ourselves. We had picked up take out and relaxed with a glass of wine an hour before our treatments for some good laughs. We all got a pedicure together and a facial. I never felt so relax. All summer long, the girls have helped me to get Kyanne’s bedroom and playroom ready. They have helped me so much that I wanted to do something for them. I think they really did like my idea. We rented a movie and went home for some more relax time.

Thank you girls for the hard work and listening to me when I needed someone to talk to. You girls are the BEST!

My new HAVEN!

Last weekend, my husband was preparing our wood lot to move our camp ‘cottage’. Instead of building a camp that will take us 5 years... we got a cottage that had to be demolished or moved. Luckily, with my husband type of work, he was able to bring the equipment on our wood lot to clear a lot and build the road to get there. I could not have asked for a better weekend. We got news that Kyanne is entering passport stage and now we get a camp for this fall/winter. I can just imagine going there during my parental leave with Kyanne, Sam and Geroge. We are going to have a nice time to relax and enjoy nature.

To finish off the weekend on a good note, my 2 step daughters came for a drive with me at the camp site to see their dad finishing up the work. We realy did enjoy this quality time together.

 Road being fixed
Now that's wall I call a picnic...

This hill was full of mud. You should have seen our rubber boots when we got in the truck. This will be perfect in the winter for sliding!

I think Nicole enjoyed our little adventure! Dozer was trying to eat the rest of the Pizza.

This is the area we cleaned to move the camp.
This place that I call haven, is a place that I shared lots of good memories with my dad. We used to go there on weekends to play when I was younger. I am so happy that I will be able to share the same experience with Kyanne. I honestly did not think of this place too much until a year or so ago. I now see and realize the beauty of nature and why my dad liked it so much.

I think that it will help my bank account as well if I bring Kyanne there instead of going to the mall LOL!
